KCR our role model for achieving special status: Jagan Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has become a role model for the leader of the opposition and YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for achieving special status to AP.
“KCR is a real inspiration for us as he has made the impossible task of formation of TS state possible with his relentless fight. Hence, the state should take its cue from KCR,” Jagan said, while making indirect references to chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
He further said his party would use the ‘special status issue’ even in the 2019 polls, if need be.
Speaking to reporters after staging a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue situated on the premises of the State Assembly here on Saturday, Jagan said that KCR, despite opposition from other political parties, had achieved his goal.
“People of AP should also make similar efforts to achieve special status to the state,” he added.
Not ready to buy the argument of Naidu that in the present situation the state should accept the special packages being offered by the Centre, Jagan said Naidu instead of taking on Centre for going back from its promises made to AP is trying to bargain with it. “Naidu is trying to create an impression that if the state doesn’t get special status, it is not going to lose much. Which is not true. If we don’t get special status, it will be very difficult for the state to develop. We cannot compete with other states,” he said.
According to Jagan, Naidu had come to an understanding with the Centre on the issue of special status and has decided to accept whatever is offered by the Centre in its place.
